Hong Kong Family Trip (March 2017) Part 3 Giant Buddha, Garden of the Stars, Macau Restaurant, Hoi Kee Walnut Place and Crystal Jade Restaurant
As for our third day in Hong Kong (second day blog is here), we decided to visit the Giant Buddha (Tian Tan Buddha) in Lantau island.
But first, we had our breakfast at McDonalds which is just a few steps away lang din sa guesthouse.
Too bad that the cable cars were under maintenance when we were in Hong Kong so we opt to go by bus instead. From the guesthouse, we hopped-on the MTR going to Tung Chung station, walked a few minutes to the bus terminal and took Bus 23 which goes directly to the gate of the Po Lin Monastery. The ride was smooth pero medyo nkakahilo but in less than an hour, we arrived at our destination.
It was cold and windy... the weather was a bit gloomy but nothing stopped us to enjoy the experience. Kailangan lang tumingin sa dadaanan at maka jackpot ka, because of the cows roaming around the area, syempre may mga poops silang naiiwan.
But hey, we were there already, papalampasin pa ba namin yun.
We offered a prayer and just enjoyed the view and the cool weather.
After visiting the majestic Giant Buddha, my youngest bought a wooden sword as a souvenir from one of the shops, pero pinaglaruan ng loko kaya nabali din after a few weeks.
As we walked to the bus terminal, we passed by the Ngong Ping Village which has variety of shops and restaurants.
On our way back to the guesthouse, we just passed by Cafe de Coral in Chungking Mansion for lunch. We were not able to take pictures while we were there dahil nag-init ang ulo ng lolo nyo sa makukulit na mga bata. Ang ending nila, afternoon nap sa guesthouse.
They woke up at about 6PM na rin, so naisip namin na nearby na lang din maglakad-lakad. We just walked a few minutes and natagpuan namin ang Garden of the Stars.
Waley! Nagtitipid na ba sila?
Anyway, pagkatapos namin maghintay sa wala, ginugutom na ang mga junakis so we just walked at naghanap na ng makakainan. Ang tagal mamili ng restaurants na kakainan since it was the last dinner we had there kaya they were not sure ano ang gusto nila kainin. We ended up at Macau Restaurant. I've read a lot of good reviews din about sa restaurant na 'to.
These are some of the food we ordered.
We also had Mixed Fried Rice, Iced Lemon Tea and Portuguese Egg Tart which is so yummy that I regretted why I did not buy more.
Just almost across Macau Restaurant, we saw Hoi Kee Walnut Place. My husband had been wanting to try the Steamed Milk in Hong Kong so kahit busog na and we don't know when we can go back to HK again, we tried it. It was around 10PM na rin by that time pero may waiting time pa rin to get a table in Hoi Kee, small lang din kasi yung place nila kaya we had our orders for take out na lang since a block away na lang naman yung guesthouse.
Sobrang sarap nitong steamed milk na 'to. It has a subtle sweetness and parang a much smoother taho ang texture nya. The Bean Custard with Mango is also very nice, ako kahit ano, basta with mangoes.
Sayang talaga! Pero well, I know that someday, matitikman ko uli sya.
We travelled back to the Airport by bus again. Kaya sobrang gustong gusto ko yung area ng TST where we stayed, kasi sobrang accessible sya at ang daming masasarap na pagkain sa paligid, hindi na kailangang lumayo pa.
We returned the Octopus cards, got refunded with the unused load and we still have more than enough HKD to spend. The boys wanted to have McDonalds and so they did, but I wanted to try Crystal Jade because of their Xiao Long Bao.
After lunch, we still had a few more HKD, so instead of having them exchanged, we just bought some food items from 7 eleven.
At ayun na nga, natapos na ang aming short but very memorable trip in Hong Kong. It was really nice to travel as a family and I am very thankful kasi we get the opportunity to do so.
We still missed a lot of good places to go to in Hong Kong pero syempre hindi rin kayang ipilit dahil sa time at budget. At least we have plenty of reason to come back di ba?
As long as buo ang pamilya, kahit saang lugar pa ang puntahan, siguradong memorable yun.
